Chalet St Marie - Mountain Biking

In the summer months all of the downhill that was covered in snow turns green and provides a beautiful setting for bike riding. The Chalet St Marie is geared up for mountain biking in the summer, providing a dedicated bike room on the lower floor, with plenty of room for maintenance and greasing!

Downhill:

- 9 permanent downhill courses in the Portes du Soleil area - a total of over 27 km and a total vertical drop of 4273m.
- Plenty of other downhill trails accessed by the large number of chairlifts and cable cars in the Portes du Soleil
- Enough trails to keep the keenest downhillers occupied!
- All courses are easily accessed by chairlifts and cable cars

Lift pass prices (2007) - 18Euro day pass, 56Euro week pass for all of the Portes du Soleil. Passes can be bought for individual lifts too.

Cross Country:

- Single track, gnarly technical descents, tough climbs, fire roads, scenic lakeside trails - something for everyone, varied terrain
- Trails marked like ski runs (green, blue, red and black) according to difficulty
- Chairlifts and cable cars give access to over 1000km of mountain bike trails
- Plenty of mountain restaurants and bars dotted along the trails for food, drink and nice cool beer stops

Road:

- For those with a good level of fitness, this area is amazing for road riding. Try all the routes of the Tour de France & Dauphiné Libéré.
- Col de Joux Plane, made famous by Lance Armstrong
- Tour de France 12th July stage finish in Morzine
- Climb from Morzine to Avoriaz (try and beat Hinault's record of 33 minutes set in 1979) "Velodateurs will record your time on a ticket"
- Quiet roads and friendly motorists
- Evian & Lake Geneva & climb back up from Thonon to Morzine

We have outlined some of our associates with lots of information on Mountain Biking.
